Why a technical founder might be a bad idea

Dirty work merchants can hurt you in the long run

A common roadmap for non-technical founders is:

1. Try build it themselves

2. Try find a technical co-founder

3. Try do it themselves again

4. Hire an offshore dev shop

5. Do it themselves because offshore burned them

If you somehow got out early and pulled off #2 you might be dreaming. But what if you were in such a negatively leveraged position that you gave away half of the company—and they turn out to be a megalomaniac?. Or they turn out not to be as skilled as they claimed. That’s not a good person to be in business with.
