What not to do when outsourcing development
Always peek behind the curtain
One of the main issues with outsourcing development is that there’s often an abstract interface between the client and the development team. Meaning the client doesn’t know exactly who is building their app. What’s happening is there are one or two senior developers and a multitude of junior developers eating up hourly billing quotas. A team of three strong developers could trump a team of thirty junior developers. An outsourcing firm that operates this way is bad news. A better approach would be to hand pick developers who work independently and build close relationships with them, ideally in person. Or, work with an outsourcing firm that integrates their developers directly into your team.
