Taking Your Time
After operating a consultancy for over six months, I’m still unsure who my ideal customer is or what I’m trying to sell them. At a high level, it’s Fractional CTO services for early-stage startups. But there’s much more specificity to nail down. When people learn this, they look at me like I’ve got ten heads. They’re expecting me to say that I’m selling the shit out of some product or service that I’ve dreamed up.
Speed is important in startups. But what’s critical is precision followed by velocity. Once a gap has been identified, one must act with unwavering conviction and accuracy.
In startups, we only have so many dice rolls. So, it’s imperative to be patient and make small, iterative bets until the real value add is uncovered.
Then it’s time to turn on the afterburners.
