Solve Problems Faster
Unstuck Yourself
Forcing things is never the answer. If a problem is becoming too difficult it’s probably because the approach is off. Becoming emotionally invested in doing things “the right way” can lead to unnecessary delays. Stepping back and asking:
“What am I trying to accomplish here?
and
“How long do I have?”
Will lead you to a less elegant but faster solution. You shouldn’t lead with this. But if you’re stuck for more than a few hours then you need to find a new path.
“How important is this?”
Is also a valuable question. It can lead to giving up on things prematurely. But if there’s a more valuable task—it makes sense to switch.
Chatting through issues with others is helpful, but they don’t have your context.
Continuous dialogue with yourself is the best guide there is.
