Shoulder Standing Course
A Distribution Strategy
On Friday, we discussed a strategy for distribution of standing on the shoulders of giants by leveraging established platforms’ ecosystems. But not all platforms are created equal. There are legitimate risks to using these platforms that aren’t as probable on the open internet or App Stores. The App Store is no different from any of these platforms in theory. It’s just software creating an ecosystem for people to build more software that works with their systems. Except they’re more established. Less likely to change the rules drastically or go away entirely.
Because that’s the real risk with these platforms. One day, they’ll decide they don’t need integrations anymore because it’s too much of a security risk or their platform has all the functionality it needs now.
The more the ecosystem grows the more leverage integrations have. It’s a dance that both the platform and individuals both need to know how to step to.
Beating to your drum won’t cut it.
