How to Communicate
Communication is the most important quality of effective work. It’s not just the quantity. Tone and message are just as important. Hearing about problems all the time is overwhelming and discouraging.
John Gottman, the famed relationship expert, found that successful relationships require a ratio of 5:1 between positive and negative interactions. And your issue isn’t automatically the most urgent thing on someone’s plate.
Above all else precision matters. Being precise, eliminating unnecessary information and focusing on the core message. Using extra breath to repeat the core instead of padding with fluff.
