The Missing Link

Most will be comfortable with the language after a few years living in a new country. You’ll even be dreaming in it. The brain’s neuroplasticity has developed so you feel closer to the locals than tourists, cobbling words together.

If a tourist is looking for help, you might be better than a local at slowing down and empathizing, but you will probably still be too fast for them to understand.

The same is true for programmers. They’re too deep in the weeds to simplify jargon. They’re also unlikely to focus on the business case for a particular feature unless they’re explicitly told. It’s not their job, especially in a larger company.

That’s where a fractional CTO comes in. Someone well-versed in the business and technical sides of the company.

Without that, one side will consume the other.
