Born Starting-Up
Why working at a startup is a necessary prerequisite to starting one
Hi I’m Feargal Walsh. Welcome to the inaugural post of my newsletter.
Why should you read this?
I’ve been working for startups for nine years from three to three hundred person teams. During those periods I’ve consistently tried to break away and start things on my own. I’ve never succeeded. This may not be the time either. And it’s a better time than ever. There are an abundance of opportunities out here and it just feels right to be plugged into the startup space again. The people are so ambitious and wholehearted and I’m so grateful for all the help and support I’ve received thus far.
Who is this aimed at?
This newsletter is primarily for people looking to hire someone with a wealth of experience in the startup space to help them build their MVP. You can find out more about that on https://finestcitydigital.com/. I’m not interested in coming on board existing mature projects unless it’s in a consulting role. I thoroughly vet all my clients to make sure I’m confident I can help them and add value to their product. If that’s not apparent then we’ll part ways, no hard feelings and no money wasted.
When will it get posted?
Every weekday.
What will it include?
I’ll be sharing listicles about what’s important in various areas of startup development. Key learnings from my years as a developer at fast paced, high growth startups and opinions on emerging trends in AI, Web development and Infrastructure. And updates on progress with my side project PandaSwipe, a credit card rewards recommendation engine.
Where will this live?
For the for-seeable future it’ll stay on SubStack. It may move to a dedicated site eventually.
How will it reach people?
You can subscribe to the email list to stay looped in daily. Or you can bookmark and return to the page as often as you’d like.
Thanks for coming on this journey with me! It’s an honor to share with you.
