Beware Smooth Talkers
People are increasingly starting tech companies with business backgrounds. The world’s most valuable companies are in tech. But none were started by people with an exclusively business background. That may change in the next ten years. But I doubt it.
The person who can clearly define the business problem may sound more impressive than an introverted Engineer. And the narrative that we can just vibe code whatever product we reverse engineer to the market is prevalent. It’s excellent that domain experts can now bring their ideas to life. However, software still requires stellar technical and product people to excel.
These folks may not be as good at creating smooth pitch decks or viral Social Media posts.
But they’ll build the hell out of that app.
