Software Engineers are some of the most articulate, thoughtful, open minded people I’ve met. I think the reason they’re perceived as rude is that in a world of extreme complexity, concrete explanations are crucial. And disagreeableness is a useful quality in solving hard problems. The overweight, dungeon dweller cranking out code without seeing daylight since 1999 trope is no longer the norm. Most Software Engineers realize that healthy exercise, eating and relationships are a superpower in staying sharp.
