A subtle difference
Onshore and Offshore Developers look the same on paper. Similar levels of experience, similar programming skills. There’s one difference. The onshore developer is much more likely to read between the lines of a specification and intuit how things are supposed to work. They are also more likely to solicit feedback and iterate on their work to make sure it actually solves the problem. Ultimately, offshore developers are generally not interested in the business problems. They want to know exactly what to build and will talk to you when it’s done. They’ll make adjustments based on feedback but won’t actively pursue it or try test their own work from a user’s perspective.
